The Massage Bodysuit

The markings on the massage bodysuit indicate three basic strokes:
one for the abdomen, one for the chest and one for the back.
The abdomen: this stroke is called Sun and Moon:
- Place both hands on the childs abdomen.
- Form a circular movement by rotating your hands clockwise.
- Your left hand should always touch the childs adbomen while the right
hand crosses over the left.
The chest: this stroke is called The Book:
- Place your fingers on the childs chest and move them as if you were
oping a book.
- Heart shaped movements.
- Stroke your palms up and down the childs spine.
- Stroke your palms across the back.
- Stroke your fingertips in circular movements up and down the muscles
alongside the spine.
Aim
- The massage bodysuit makes it easier for parents to practice infant
massage - not only does it remind them of using the massage, it also
teaches them the strokes. It is much more convenient for the parents to
have the instruction right in front of them instead if they constantly
have to divert their attension away from the child to an instruction book.
- Some children find massage uncomfortable and do not respond positively
to it. This could be because they find it uncomfortable to be naked,
especially older children. This could be amended with the massage bodysuit.
- It is important that the children are not cold while they are being
massaged. The thought of having to heat up an entire room a couple of
hours before massaging can discourage parents from doing it. The
bodysuit is a good solution for this.
- The massage bodysuit can also be used as everyday wear.
The Future
We hope to do a lot more with this idea. At the present moment we only have a bodysuit but the idea can also work on other types of clothing
and with a larger age group.
